Howdy Friends and Fans! We hope everyone is wonderful and enjoying the beginning of 2022. Ole Mother Nature thumped us for a bit with cold temps and slow growth in the greenhouses, but we're pushing right back. Our little lettuce factory is still making Loudoun Lettuce salads. If you come for a visit and find us out in the greenhouses, you might catch us singing to our little babies for extra encouragement. Everyone likes some encouragement and serenading from time to time! We sure do appreciate your patience with us while our volume is Winter volume. It will be Spring before we know it, and we'll have more lettuce than we can shake a stick at.
On to our fantastic news! We would like to welcome Sweetwater Soaps to the ESH Farm stand boutique. Sweetwater Soaps features hand made soaps, lotions, scrubs, and body care items. The company is located in Minnesota, and creative genius, owner, and proprietress is Melede Powers, the dear cousin of our very own Head of Lettuce. We love small owned and family run businesses, if you haven't guessed. ;) And we especially love supporting our family's family business.
Here's the dish on Melede. Not only is she an awesome cousin, who plays guitar, Melede is a wonderful friend and super smart idea-bouncer-offer to Mary Ellen. She is an amazing businesswoman, entrepreneur, and master chemist of enriched soaps. Born out of necessity to help a family member with eczema, Melede understood the need to move away from commercial soaps to soaps made with safer and more nourishing ingredients. Melede learned the art of soap and lotion making to fill this need, and for 10 years now, she has made it her passion. She works diligently on her recipes, to produce the most amazing body products. Check out her ingredients, and have confidence in her ability to dazzle you with her hand crafted spa items.
At the farm stand, we will be offering single bars of soap, single bottles of foaming hand soap, and a spa set containing one bar soap, one lotion, and one sugar scrub.
Sweetwater Soaps will be available for purchase in person at the Endless Summer Harvest farm stand. That means Falls Church and DuPont Circle customers will have to drive on out to Purcellville to get these goodies. You'll want to come in and check out the scents for yourself.
I have used several of the Sweetwater Soaps bars, the foaming hand soap, and a bottle of lotion, and I can vouch for their quality. I love the variety of scents, and they tend to leave my hands nice and soft after washing up. Her lotion is a fantastic follow up to moisturize your hands, especially in the winter time, or if you must wash your hands a million times a day. It goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly, not leaving behind a greasy film.
